Mandarin Numbers

The Numbers

The number system in Chinese is very simple indeed, you will only ever need to know the digits from 0-10 and you can make any number you want. take a look at the table below to see all the numbers. You can use the stroke order page to see how to write the characters. Just copy and paste the characters to the stroke order control.

  0 líng 100  bǎi
  1 1000 qiān
  2 èr 10 000 wàn
  3  三 sān 100 000 十万  shí wàn
  4 1 000 000  百万 bǎi wàn
  5
  6 liù
  7
  8
  9 jiǔ
  10 shí

So from the above we can make any number we wish. For example

  • 17 is just ten and seven 十七。
  • 27 is two lots of ten and seven 二十七.
  • 70 is seven lots of ten 七十.
  • 123 is one one hundred two lots of ten and 3 一百二十三.
